Fuel shipment brought by Neverska Lady passes standard test, distribution of fuel to begin

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The fuel shipment brought by Neverska Lady Ship has passed the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation’s standard test meeting the specifications and the authorities have commenced the unloading the shipment.

Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Chairman Dammika Ranatunga said the unloading of fuel has already begun and oil is being pumped to Muthurajawela storage tanks.

The distribution of fuel will being this evening and the bowsers are ready to distribute the fuel to the filling stations, the official said.

The ship has brought 40,000 metric tons of petrol, 32,500 metric tons of which 92 Octane 92 and 7500 metric tons are 95 Octane. 95.

Ranatunga said that the CPC has already started the process of issuing fuel from its own fuel stocks daily and CPC has sufficient fuel. CPC had earlier begun supplying 1,500 metric tons of petrol from the previous stock to the filling stations, according to the chairman.

He said all filling station-owners are instructed to keep their facilities open overnight as the fuel will be distributed through the night.
