Sri Lanka Cricket recalls head coach after ODI series loss to South Africa

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka Cricket on Thursday asked head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe to return home after the last match of the ongoing five-match ODI series in South Africa and appointed fielding coach Steve Rixon to coach the team for the T20 series.

“Sri Lanka Cricket informed Head Coach Mr. Chandika Hathurusingha to return to Colombo, following the completion of the 05th ODI of the ongoing series in South Africa,” the cricket board said in a statement.

Hathurusinghe is being asked to come back in order to discuss Sri Lanka team’s preparation plans for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the SLC said.

“Mr. Steve Rixon will be the acting Head Coach of the National team during the T20 Series in South Africa,” it added.

SLC appointed Steve Rixon as fielding coach in December last year in the team’s lead-up to the 2019 World Cup
