CID arrests singer Amal Perera’s son and a prison officer deported from Dubai

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Criminal Investigations Department has arrested Singer Amal Perera’s son Nadeemal Perera (24) and a former Prison Officer Lalith Kumara (52), who were deported from Dubai, when they arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning.

The duo, who were arrested last month by Dubai police along with the underworld leader Makandure Madush, Singer Amal Perera and several others, arrived in Sri Lanka this morning on a Fly Dubai flight after being deported from Dubai yesterday (26).

Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said they are being interrogated currently.

It has been confirmed that Musician Nadeemal Perera, who was in Dubai police custody, has not used drugs recently.

The group of 31 Sri Lankans arrested by Dubai police on 4th February, has been remanded until March 28 when they were produced before the Dubai court last month.

Investigations by the Dubai Police have confirmed that eight of the suspects have not used drugs and Nadeemal Perera and Lalith Kumara were among them. They will be produced in court today.
