Rathana Thero commences fast-unto-death campaign demanding ouster of Muslim politicians

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Parliamentarian Ven Athuraliye Rathana Thero has commenced a fast-unto-death campaign outside the Sri Dalada Maligawa temple in Kandy today (May 31) calling for the removal of some Muslim politicians.

The Thero demands the removal of Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Eastern Province Governor MLAM Hizbullah and Western Province Governor Azath Sally from their posts.

The prelate said that the hunger strike will continue until the minister and two governors are removed from their posts.

Earlier this week, Rathana Thero had granted a 24-hour period for Rishad Bathiudeen to resign from his ministerial portfolio. He had commenced a fast-unto-death campaign today since the said time period had lapsed yesterday.
