Shantha, Manoj, Herath take oaths as MPs

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) members Shantha Bandara, Manoj Sirisena and D.B Herath took oaths today as Members of Parliament.

Shantha Bandara’s name had been gazetted to fill the vacant UPFA National List MP seat in Parliament.

The seat was left vacant after Bandara resigned as UPFA National List MP in order to fill the seat left vacant following the death of MP Salinda Dissanayake.

However the District Returning Officer of Kurunegala had gazetted the name of UPFA member H. M. D. B. Herath to fill the vacant seat.

As a result Shantha Bandara returned to Parliament as a UPFA National List MP.

UPFA Southern Provincial Council (SPC) member Manoj Sirisena had been appointed to fill the vacant Parliament seat following the demise of MP Chandrasiri Gajadeera.
