Four foreigners arrested in Sri Lanka for stealing data from an ATM

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Four foreign nationals have been arrested for stealing data from an ATM installed in Mirissa, Bandaramulla on 12th October.

Data has been stolen from an ATM belonging to a private bank installed in Mirissa, Bandaramulla, Kotawila police division.

Kotawila Police have launched investigations into a complaint received that the four foreign suspects have entered the stall of the ATM and affixed electronic skimming devices to steal data from the ATM.

Accordingly, a Bulgarian, an Estonian and two Polish nationals were arrested in Mirissa yesterday (16) evening, Police Media Spokesman’s Office said.

The foreign suspects are to be produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court today (17).

The Kotawila police are conducting further investigations.
