(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The government has taken a decision to establish a National Training Centre for journalists to enhance their professional skills, Information and Communication Technology State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane said.
Speaking to the media yesterday at the Information and Communication Technology Ministry, the State Minister said the cabinet paper
with regard to the establishment of State-run high quality training centre will be submitted soon.
“An urban housing complex for journalists will also be constructed and a vehicle loan scheme for journalists will also be introduced,” the Minister said.
The State Minister said that a decision has already been taken to establish press clubs for provincial journalists.Provincial level press clubs are scheduled to be established under the first phase of this programme and district level press clubs will be established later.
