‘Smart Electric Meter’ introduced in SL for first time

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Electric meter used to supply electricity to homes and various institutions can cause various irregularities, and meter readers can face many problems.

ANTE-LECO Metering (Pvt) Ltd in Bandaragama, a subsidiary of LECO, has taken measures to introduce a new smart electric meter with a range of facilities to overcome this situation.

Minister of Power and Energy and Transport Service Management Mahinda Amaraweera declared open the newly built Wave Soldering Plant in ANTE LECO METERING PRIVATE LIMITED yesterday.

The company produces 2,000 new smart electric meters a day and has already sold 64000 smart meters in our country. The factory aims to produce at least 400,000 smart electricity meters annually.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that the establishment of the factory was a result of a bold decision taken by the incumbent Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa during his presidency. Among the bold decisions taken by him from 2010 to 2014, the Minister said that the country would have remained in the dark if the Norochcholai Power Plant and the Upper Kotmale Hydro Power Plant were not built.
