Over 30 Navy officers test positive for COVID-19

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Over 30 Navy personnel have been reported to have tested positive for COVID-19.

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said among the 33 patients detected yesterday, 31 were identified as Navy personnel from the Navy Camp in Welisara.

He said the remaining 2 were identified as relatives of infected Navy officers, and are currently placed in quarantine centers.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Heath said four more persons infected with COVID-19 were reported in Sri Lanka this morning.

This raises the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka to 755.

A total of 194 patients, including 193 Sri Lankans and a Chinese woman, have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.

The deaths due to COVID-19 in Sri Lanka rose to 8 last evening, with the death of a 72 year -old woman from Polpithigama, Kurunegala.
