Amended National Policy on Natural Gas in Sri Lanka receives cabinet nod

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Cabinet of Minister has granted approval to amend the national policy on natural gas in Sri Lanka.

The national policy will be amended in order to attract investors to the country Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Udaya Gammanpila said addressing the Cabinet media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday (03).

As the country lacks the necessary legal policies for Natural Gas it was decided at the Cabinet Meeting held on 12 February 2020 to appoint an Expert Committee to examine the draft National Policy on Natural Gas in Sri Lanka and to make necessary amendments.

Accordingly, the revised ‘National Policy on Natural Gas’ prepared by the 17-member Expert Committee appointed for the purpose was presented to the Cabinet by the Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila and the cabinet of Ministers has decided to grant policy approval for the revised National Policy.
