Former minister MP Rishad Bathiudeen arrested

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Former minister and current parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department, today after hunting for him for five days.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohan said the arrest was made in Dehiwala area early Monday morning.

Police said the MP has been taken to the CID and will be produced in the court after recording a statement from him.

The Attorney General had instructed the police on October 13th to arrest Rishad Bathiudeen on charges of misappropriating public funds by using 221 SLTB buses to provide transport facilities to the displaced people in the Puttalam area to cast their votes in the 2019 Presidential Election.

The Police have not been able to trace him in the past five days.
