Coronavirus update: 737 new COVID-19 cases identified Monday, total rises to 59,167

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 737 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Monday.

All the positive cases identified Monday are associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report at 11:30 pm Monday, a total of 59,167 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 8,543 infected patients are being treated at hospitals. Another 683 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Sri Lanka reported four more deaths Monday raising the total to 287 and 50,337 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 1,608,615 PCR tests have been conducted to detect COVID-19 infected persons from February 18 to January 243 according to the Health Promotion Bureau.
