Sri Lanka reports four more COVID-19 deaths Monday, toll rises to 287

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka confirmed four deaths on Monday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 287, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 287 by now.

01. The deceased is a 49 year old female from Beruwela. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus while being treated at the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama and transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases where she died on January 25. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, blood poisoning and cancer.

02. The deceased is a 43 year old female from Deraniyagala. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from Ratnapura Teaching Hospital to the Base Hospital Homagama where she died on January 24. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, blood poisoning and multi-organ failure.

03. The deceased is a 76 year old male from Warakagoda. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from General Hospital Colombo to the Homagama Base Hospital where he died on January 24. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and multi-organ failure.

04. The deceased is a 71 year old male resident of Colombo 08 area. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from General Hospital Colombo to the Homagama Base Hospital where he died on January 24. The cause of death was said to be heart failure associated with COVID-19 infection.
