2020 was a challenging year for staff engagement due to the pandemic. Notably, AIA was able to transition smoothly to the Work-From-Home situation, with concerted efforts made to keep employees engaged and feeling supported. AIA used online platforms such as MS Teams and Facebook live to engage employees with helpful sessions on mindfulness and meditation and achieving that fine work-life balance when working from home. AIA also hosted the company’s first ever digital Company Conference to celebrate employees for their commitment and contribution to the company. Not to forget the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations, which is usually a red-letter day in the company’s calendar and was conducted via Teams – with staff and families taking part in games, beauty pageants and costume competition for kids. Despite the obstacles posed by the pandemic and curfew, AIA was able to keep staff engaged and motivated throughout the year.
