Sri Lanka Cricket appoints Tom Moody as Director of Cricket

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Sunday has announced the appointment of former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody as the director of cricket of Sri Lanka. Moody’s appointment will be effective from 01st March 2021.

Moody has been appointed following recommendations made by the Technical Advisory Committee of the SLC to revamp Sri Lanka’s Cricket operations.

“Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the appointment of Mr. Tom Moody as the ‘Director of Cricket,’ effective from March 1, 2021. His appointment comes following recommendations made by the Technical Advisory Committee of the SLC to revamp Sri Lanka’s Cricket operations,” official handle of SLC tweeted.

Moody has been given a three-year contract and according to the agreement, the former head coach of Sri Lanka Cricket team is expected to carry out 300 days of ‘Mandatory Assignment’.

“Among many of his duties include the Analysis of the Future Tour Programme, focusing on the Domestic Tournament Structure, Player Welfare, Education and Skill Development, Coaching and Support Staff Structure and High Performance and Data Analytics,” SLC said in a statement.

“Tom has worked with Sri Lanka Cricket in the past and has shown results, and I am sure with his working knowledge of the system, Tom will add greater value to our game,” Ashley De Silva, CEO of SLC, has said.

Moody was Sri Lanka’s head coach between 2005 and 2007 when the island nation made it to the final of the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean.

Moody has previously served a similar role with Caribbean Premier League and currently holds the same position with the Sunrisers Hyderabad Indian Premier League franchise.
