Sri Lanka reports five COVID-19 deaths Wednesday, toll rises to 630

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka confirmed five deaths on Wednesday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 630, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 630 by now.

01. The deceased is a 75 year old male resident in Sevanagala. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Embilipitiya Base Hospital and transferred to Colombo North Teaching Hospital where he died on April 18. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning associated with Covid pneumonia, and acute kidney damage.

02. The deceased is an 80 year old male resident in Ja-Ela. He has died on April 19 while undergoing treatments at Colombo North Teaching Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as heart attack with Covid pneumonia, and acute kidney damage.

03. The deceased is a 57 year old male resident in Kelaniya. He has died on April 20 while undergoing treatments at Colombo North Teaching Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning, Covid pneumonia, and acute kidney damage.

04. The deceased is a 59 year old male resident of Ratnapura. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Ratnapura Teaching Hospital and transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on April 19. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID-19 pneumonia, diabetes and dyslipidemia.

05. The deceased is a 39 year old male resident in Gampaha. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at a private hospital in Colombo and transferred to National Institute of Infectious Diseases where he died on April 20. The cause of death is mentioned as shock due to blood poisoning associated with Covid pneumonia.
