Sri Lanka to issue digital COVID vaccination ID

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa today (11) said that a digital identity card using the latest technology will be issued to the public in the next few days to make the Covid vaccination program more efficient.

He said the new Digital ID is the result of discussions with the Ministry of Health and the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA).

The new digital identity card, through latest technology will provide each individual with the necessary information on vaccinations including the date, place, time and type of vaccine issued by the government, as well as relevant information and the date, place and time to obtain the second dose, the Minister pointed out.

Vision of Prosperity policy clearly outlines a people-centric digital governance system in the policy framework and the new digital identity card, which includes information on vaccination, using technology and the Internet is expected to avoid the difficulties associated with vaccination.

Digitalization is also the hope of the next generation to effectively serve the people, the Minister said.
