Sri Lanka to administer Pfizer vaccines as third dose for fully vaccinated over 20 age group

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Channa Jayasumana, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals says The Government has decided to give the Pfizer vaccine as the third dose to all Sri Lankans over the age of 20 who have completed the Covid vaccination.

He also said that the measures have been taken to purchase 14.5 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Priority will be given to persons over the age of 60 with other disabilities, health workers and members of the security forces.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, only 83 percent of the population over the age of 20 has been vaccinated.
