CID to investigate recent power outages

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into a complaint lodged by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) regarding the recent power outages in several parts of the country.

An official of the CID told ‘Dinamina’ yesterday (1) that a special team has been deployed to investigate the incident.

The official said the investigative teams have started observing the relevant places and recording the statements.

Many parts of Sri Lanka experienced power cuts on Monday, 29th November and the Ceylon Electricity Board has reportedly attributed the outages to a technical issue experienced on the transmission cables from Kotmale to the Biyagama Grid Sub-Station.

According to a CEB official the power outage affected sub-grid stations in Biyagama, Kotugoda, Habarana, Galle, Matara, Pannipitiya, Ratmalana, Sri Jayawardenapura, Kurunegala, Kiribathkumbura, Athurugiriya, Kosgama, and Sapugaskanda.
