Permission granted to CEB to import 30,000 tons of fuel

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge said that the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been given permission to import 30,000 metric tons of petroleum for power generation.

He made this revelation while speaking at a media briefing held at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party headquarters yesterday (09).

The Minister said the CEB has been given permission to import oil for power generation and they are in the process of placing an order for it. In the current situation, it is necessary to use oil sparingly as well as to use electricity sparingly, the Minister pointed out.
