(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – PM Modi on Friday inaugurated ‘Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022’, India’s largest drone festival, a two-day event which has started from May 27.

Several Union Ministers including Narendra Singh Tomar, Giriraj Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Bhupendra Yadav attended the event. Besides several state ministers, leaders and entrepreneurs in the drone sector also attended this event.

At the ‘Drone Mahotsav ‘, PM Modi also spoke with Kisan drone pilots, watched open-air drone demos, and talked with startups. In addition, the Prime Minister presented 150 drone pilot certificates.

While addressing the gathering, PM Modi said that his government began applying “new mantras of good governance” in India exactly 8 years ago, following the path of “minimum government-maximum governance.”

He added that drone technology has aided in promoting the objective of saturation and assuring last-mile delivery and that his administration has made technology a major instrument for the country to gain new strength, speed, and scale.

He went on to say that his administration is now focusing on making technology more accessible to the general public, stressing that as technology becomes more accessible to the general public, the possibilities for its usage expand as well.

He predicted that the use of drone technology would increase in the future while emphasising its relevance in areas such as defense, crisis management, agriculture, tourism, film, and entertainment.

PM Modi also gave examples of how his government uses drones in its official decision-making, citing PRAGATI evaluations and the Kedarnath project as examples.
