Cabinet approval to grant Friday leave to non-essential public servants

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Cabinet of Ministers in view of the current fuel crisis has granted approval for the proposal to declare Friday a holiday for public sector employees except for essential workers for a period of three months.

The proposal does not include health, water, power and energy, education, security and other essential services.

The proposal to grant leave to public servants on Friday was presented to the Cabinet yesterday.

The Minister of Public Administration Dinesh Gunawardena recently stated that in view of the current fuel crisis, a program will be implemented to grant leave to public servants on Fridays.
