Schools in urban areas to be opened for classes three days next week

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –The Ministry of Education following a discussion today has made an announcement regarding the opening of schools next week.

The Ministry has decided to open schools in urban areas that were not held last week for in-person classes on three days next week.

Accordingly, schools in urban areas will be held on Tuesday (28), Wednesday (29) and Thursday (30) next week from 7.30 am to 01.30 pm.

In these schools too, the principal has the power to decide on the number of days that the primary sections will be held.

Also, schools that do not have transportation difficulties for students and teachers should be held as usual, as was the case with schools in rural schools last week.

If there are teachers in these schools who have transportation difficulties, the principal will exempt those teachers from personal leave and set flexible schedules.

Learning activities are to be continued through online teaching / assignments / home-based activities for students on non-attendance days.

According to the Ministry of Education, other schools in non-urban areas are to be open as usual on all 5 days
