300 million Indian grant assistance to set up 5000-metric ton cold storage in Dambulla to boost agriculture sector

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – India and Sri Lanka signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today for construction of a 5000-metric ton temperature controlled warehouse in Dambulla, Central Province. Indian grant assistance of SLR 300 million will be utilized for this purpose.

Sri Lanka to promote ornamental fish industry at village level

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economy Dilip Wedaarachchi says a comprehensive program will be launched island wide at the village level to boost the ornamental fish industry producing ornamental fish that are high in demand globally.

Four mn tourist arrivals, US $ 7 bn revenue by 2020

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka’s position as a tourist destination will be further consolidated with the newly set industry targets, which include four million tourist arrivals, 600, 000 direct employments and US $ 7 billion revenue from tourism in 2020, said Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga.
