Report of Radiocarbon dating of Mannar mass grave bone samples due this week

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The report of the results of radiocarbon dating tests conducted on the bone samples found from the mass grave in Mannar in Northern Sri Lanka is expected to be received on Thursday (February 14), Judicial Medical Officer Dr Saminda Rajapaksha has said.

Police obtains Speaker’s permission to arrest UNP’s Chaminda Wijesiri

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Several well-placed sources speculated that the Police have obtained the permission of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to arrest the United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri who was accused of allegedly assaulting a Police Constable attached to the Narcotics Division of the Bandarawela Police.

Term of Presidential Commission on SriLankan Airlines extended

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a Gazette Notification on Thursday (07) extending the term of Office of the Presidential Commission to inquire into allegations of large scale frauds and malpractices in SriLankan Airlines, SriLankan Catering Limited, and Mihin Lanka (Private) Limited, till 30 May.
