National Mosquito Control Week from September 26

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The National Dengue Prevention Unit of the Ministry of Health jointly with the Presidential Task Force on Dengue Prevention will launch a National Mosquito Control Week from September 26 to October 02 on the instructions of Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.

Economy recovers to 3.7% growth

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) in releasing National Accounts estimates for the second quarter of 2018 yesterday said that economic growth rate of the country is estimated as 3.7% for the second quarter of 2018. The Gross Domestic Product at constant (2010) prices for the second quarter of2018 recorded as, Rs. 2,264,445 million, and GDP reported for second quarter of 2017 was Rs. 2,183,122 million.

300 million Indian grant assistance to set up 5000-metric ton cold storage in Dambulla to boost agriculture sector

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – India and Sri Lanka signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today for construction of a 5000-metric ton temperature controlled warehouse in Dambulla, Central Province. Indian grant assistance of SLR 300 million will be utilized for this purpose.
