(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –President Maithripala Sirisena says that he has not yet decided whether he will contest at the next Presidential Elections.
However, President Sirisena said that he will continue in politics throughout his life .
President Sirisena made this statement today (26)at a meeting held with heads of media institutions and news editors at President’s House, Fort.
President Maithripala Sirisena sought the Supreme Courts opinion earlier this month, if he could be the president for six years, a request which contradicts the amendment he introduced to reduce the presidential term to five years.
However, conveying its decision on the reference made by the President, the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka on January 15th said that President Maithripala Sirisenas term in office is five years.
