The President urges people to vote against bribery, corruption and nepotism

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – President Miathripala Sirisena, addressing the public in historical Mahiyanganaya urged the people to use their vote sensibly against bribery, corruption and nepotism at the forthcoming election.

This Programme against corruption should be won before implementing the programme to build the nation stated the President addressing a rally held yesterday (01) in Polonnaruwa.

A huge gathering was present in the rally organized to ensure the victory of the candidates of Badulla district from SLFP led United People’s Freedom Alliance.

The President stated that many people have joined hands with him to work towards the programme to eliminate bribery and corruption.

Although many facades exist on the name of heroism the whole country has identified the real agents behind bribery and corruption and people will provide answers for those who are guilty in this election.

The President referred to the appeal made by the former President to the people to treat this election as a vote against the -government and pointed out that the forthcoming election is not an election to change the existing government but it is focus on establishing good governance and a proper plan for new local administration. Hence, all should work cautiously and intelligently for the transformation that is essential to the country.

Senior Vice President of the SLFP, Nimal Siripala de Silva, State Minister, Lakshman Seneviratne, Governor of Uva Province M.P. Jayasighe, Northern Province Governor Reginald Cooray, Chief Minister of Uva Province Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, Uva Province Minister Anura Widanagamage, SLFP Mahiyangana District Organizer, K.P.Gunawrdena and the candidates were present at this event.
