Sri Lanka condemns Afghanistan terror attack

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Government of Sri Lanka has condemned Sunday’s (22) terror attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, in which 57 people were killed.

The dead include 21 women and 5 children, killed when the blast hit the queue outside. A further 119 people were injured.

The Islamic State group (IS) said it had carried out the attack.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Sri Lanka strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack at a voter registration centre in Kabul which is an assault on democracy. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
