Arimac Digital powers up NDB to unveil first “Phygital” branch in Sri Lanka

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Arimac Digital revolutionised modern banking in Sri Lanka by migrating customers from National Development Bank PLC (NDB) to a digital, paperless platform in an effort to create a seamless customer experience and enable digital disruption. The bank recently unveiled its first state-of-the-art digitally enabled branch under the brand name, NDB Neos.

The branch—located at No. 40, Canal Row, Colombo 01—contains self-service kiosks to automate the customer’s banking journey and ensure human interaction for a personalised and fluid customer experience. The devices leverage sophisticated, state-of-the-art technology to deliver comprehensive information and high-quality customer support.

NDB will be the first bank in Sri Lanka to offer a comprehensive interactive digital platform connected to multiple devices; an efficient queue management system; paperless transaction processing and account opening; and the successful implementation of workers through Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

“We wanted to redefine customer experience with a new paradigm in banking convenience,” said Damitha Silva, Assistant Vice President, Digital Financial Services at NDB. “Our state-of-the-art platform was developed purely from local talent, where the entire concept was brainstormed and ideated by our team while Arimac Digital provided the technical expertise and know-how to develop the platform from scratch. Thanks to their timely delivery and strong attention to detail, NDB Neos will help our customers save time and cost on their day-to-day transactions. This will also help us drive an eco-friendly culture in Sri Lanka.”

Arimac Digital showcased its in-depth technical expertise by developing the entire project—from total interior conceptualization to hardware and software development—on time, and in less than four months. NDB can now reimagine how they bring together people, data and processes to create value for their customers in order to maintain a competitive advantage in the digital-first world.

“The use of technology to deliver seamless services has grown rapidly in the global banking sector, making a significant impact on customer perception,” said ChamiraJayasinghe, CEO and Founder of Arimac Digital. “Through our novel digital disruption solution built from the ground up, NDB Neos will be the first branch in Sri Lanka to automate traditional banking services using emerging technology. We look forward to helping NDB scale their project and introducing more people to this state-of-the-art technology.

The primary services provided at NDB Neos include: Account Opening, Transactions, Cash Withdrawals (i.e Cash Deposits, Fund transfers within NDB, Fund transfers to other banks – CEFT and SLIPS), Bill Payments, and Service Requests. Staff on premises will aid customers in facilitating their interactions with the technology.
