(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena says use of the best hi-tech equipment in the world required for drug raids will commenced within two months.
He has made this statement while participating in a meeting held this morning with the heads of media institutions to introduce his new program to eliminate drug smuggling.
The President further said that the ministers in charge of the police in the past looked at the police from a political point and he would act to change that situation.
President Sirisena yesterday said that a new program for eradicating and controlling illicit drugs, which is to be implemented at national level, will be introduced to the country today at the meeting with the media heads.
The President said the new program, which will be implemented with the coordination of the Tri Forces, Police, Coast Guard and Customs, will enable the country and the people to see the new steps taken to eradicate drug smuggling.
