MOD warns Military/Police personnel against political activism

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Ministry of Defense in a statement has warned that no Military or Police personnel could engage in political activities other than casting votes.

The Ministry of Defense has highlighted that no military or Police personnel in active service or retired could don official clothing and take part in political activities.

In addition, the Defense Ministry has said that any officer in active service engaging in political activities, apart from casting their votes, could have legal action taken against them.

In the statement the Ministry of Defense says that all military and police personnel must act in a nonpartisan manner to ensure a free and fair election.
