Denuwara Manike train on upcountry line to run daily from next month

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – ‘Denuwara Manike’, Sri Lanka Railways’ first intercity train between Colombo Fort and Badulla on the main line will be operated daily from February 02, the State Minister of Railways CB Ratnayake said. The train is currently operated every other day.

The State Minister made this observation while participating in an inspection tour of the Denuwara Manike train from Colombo Fort to Badulla on last Friday (18).

The Minister further stated that necessary steps are being taken to transform the railway service into a quality transport service.

Minister Ratnayake said that a new train ticket will be issued to the local and foreign tourists from the Katunayake train station using the latest technology for the railway service.
