Presidential Task Force discusses reopening schools, jogging tracks

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Presidential Task Force on the coronavirus today discussed the possibility of reopening schools as well as jogging tracks in the city.

The President’s Office said that the Presidential Task Force headed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa met at the Presidential Secretariat Yesterday(11) .

They discussed the resumption of economic activity in the country while continuing with efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

They also discussed the need to carry out extensive testing at places where the public gather the most, including the Manning Market.

The President’s Office said that the possibility of reopening schools was also discussed at the meeting.

It was noted that there needs to be an extensive awareness campaign carried out in the media targeting school children with regards to safety measures that need to be taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus before schools reopen.

The discussion also looked at the possibility of reopening jogging tracks in the city and other physical fitness facilities.
