Over 460 Sri Lankan migrant workers repatriated from Kuwait

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lankan migrant workers who have received the benefit from the Amnesty declared by the Kuwaiti Government, have commenced repatriation from , Yesterday.

Facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry, the first batch of 466 migrant workers has left for Colombo , Yesterday(19) on two Kuwait Airways flights, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait said.

All repatriated individuals will undergo the 14-day quarantine process at Army-managed quarantine centers.

Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena who had a telephone discussion with his Kuwaiti Counterpart Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al Mohammed Al Sabah Monday has assured that Sri Lanka will repatriate all the amnesty beneficiaries in Kuwait in the future coordinating carefully in a manner that is consistent with the availability of space in quarantine centers, which are limited.
