Court refuses to issue injunction order against UNP’s decision to expel 99 party members

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Colombo District Court today refused to issue restraining order over the case filled by Samagi Jana Balawegaya, General Secretary, Ranjith Madduma Bandara demanding a restraining order preventing the UNP Working Committee’s decision to suspend the UNP party membership of 99 Samagi Jana Balawegaya party representatives.

The case was taken up before Colombo District Court Chief Judge Amali Ranaweera, the Chief judge made this order stating that when applying to a restraining order complainant should disclose true facts in the same manner. However, the complainant had applied for the restraining order by suppressing the facts.

Considering the facts, The Colombo District Court Judge ordered to refuse to issue a restraining order. However, the Colombo District Court Judge ordered the case to be taken up again on July 27 and notices were issued to UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and its Deputy Leader Ravi Karunanayake who have been named as the accused in the case to appear before the court on that day.
