(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) will commence purchasing the paddy harvest of the Yala season from Monday (June 29).
Dr. Jatal Mannapperuma, the Chairman of the Paddy Marketing Board said the process of purchasing paddy from the Yala season will begin today from the Batticaloa district.
The Paddy Marketing Board will purchase all varieties of paddy with a maximum moisture content of 14% at Rs. 50 per kilogram of paddy.
According to Dr. Mannapperuma, 25,600 tonnes of paddy was purchased during the previous “Maha” Season. The Government had spent close to 1.2 billion rupees in this regard.
