Colombo Stock Market fully digitalized from Sept 17

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –All activities in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) will be digitized from September 17 to provide a smooth and more efficient service, the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was informed yesterday.

Representatives of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) called on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (31) to announce the completion of the digitalization of the Colombo Stock Exchange.

The process of digitalizing the stock market began on the advice of the Prime Minister under a strategy of exposure to the world in a new dimension. Accordingly, all activities in the stock market will be digitalized from September 17.

The Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission Viraj Dayaratne and the Director General Chinthaka Mendis met the Prime Minister and stated that although the Colombo Stock Exchange has been paralyzed for 52 days due to Covid-19, the fully digitalized stock market process is returning to the world with a new face.

He said that their main objective is to provide a smooth and efficient service through the Colombo Stock Exchange in dealing with the world as well as the future development processes of the country.

Viraj Dayaratne, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Chinthaka Mendis, Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka handed over the invitation letter for the occasion to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
