COVID-19 update: Travel restrictions lifted in several villages in Kalutara, Bus services on the Southern Expressway restricted

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – National Operations Center for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) announced that all the villages in the Kalutara District which are currently designated as isolated villages except Badugama New Colony will be removed from the list of isolated villages with immediate effect.

Head of NOCPCO Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said travel restrictions imposed in the new colony at Badugama in Matugama have not been removed.

Meanwhile, the National Transport Commission (NTC) has decided to restrict bus services on the Southern Expressway from today (29).

Director General of NTC said Captain Nilan Miranda said that at present buses will not ply on the expressway from the Kadawatha entrance.

Meanwhile, Meegoda Economic Center will be closed from October 29 to November 02, said its manager Lasantha Sanjeewa.

The Meegoda Economic Center will be closed from today (29) as nearly 30 lorries had brought vegetables and other items yesterday (28), he said.

The manager of the Meegoda Economic Center says that the decision was taken to protect the public as one of the traders tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
