Sri Lanka reports 21st COVID-19 death

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – A person infected with the corona virus has died at the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases, in Welisara, the Government Information Department said in a statement issued at 8.50 pm today (01).

The deceased was a 40 year old male and a resident of Mahara.

He has been admitted to the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases, in Welisara on the 23rd October for treatment due to high blood pressure and infection in the respiratory system.

The first PCR test conducted has not found the patient positive for COVID-19. However, the second PCR test done after the death on 31st was found to be positive for coronavirus.

The Epidemiology Unit has confirmed the deceased was infected with COVID-19 and confirmed his death as the 21st death reported from Sri Lanka.
