Sri Lanka reports three more deaths from COVID-19 Sunday raising toll to 232

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka confirmed three more deaths on Sunday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 232, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed following three deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 232 by now.

01. The deceased is a 62 year old male inmate of the Negombo Prison. After being admitted to the Negombo General Hospital, he was transferred to the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital where he died on January 08, 2021. The leading cause of death was Covid pneumonia.

02. The deceased is An 80 year old woman from Colombo – 14 area. After being diagnosed with Covid infection at the Maharagama Apeksha Cancer Hospital, she was transferred to the Pimbura Base Hospital where she died on January 10, 2021. The leading cause of death was cancer and Covid pneumonia.

03. The deceased is a 64 year old male from Ratnapura area. He was receiving treatment at the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital and died on January 09, 2021. The cause of death was Covid pneumonia and heart disease.
