Sri Lanka reports seven COVID-19 deaths Monday, toll rises to 323

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka confirmed seven deaths on Monday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 323, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 323 by now.

01. The deceased is a 75 year old female from Wattala. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus while receiving treatment at Colombo North Teaching Hospital and transferred to Mulleriyawa Base Hospital, where she had died on January 31. The cause of death was said to be COVID-19 pneumonia, Kidney infection and stroke due to blood poisoning.

02. The deceased is a 69 year old male resident of Nugegoda. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus while receiving treatment at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital and transferred Homagama Base Hospital, where he had died on February 01. The cause of death was said to be COVID-19 pneumonia and cancer.

03. The deceased is a 72 year old male from Colombo-02 area. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo and transferred Homagama Base Hospital, where he had died on January 31. The cause of death was said to be COVID-19 pneumonia and heart disease.

04. The deceased is a 69 year old male from Udugampola. He has died on admission to Gampaha District Hospital on February 01. The cause of death was said to be a heart attack associated with COVID-19.

05. The deceased is a 39 year old male from Polonnaruwa. He had died at his residence on January 30. The cause of death was said to be multi organ failure due to blood poisoning, bronchopneumonia associated with COVID-19 and kidney disease.

06. The deceased is a 73 year old female from Madawala. She has died on February 01 while receiving treatment at Theldeniya Base Hospital. The cause of death was said to be heart failure associated with COVID-19 pneumonia.

07. The deceased is a 77 year old male from Gelioya. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus while receiving treatment at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital to Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he died on February 01. The cause of death was said to be blood poisoning associated with COVID-19 pneumonia and acute diabetes.
