(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that a special security plan has been launched island wide on the 21st of this month, the 2nd anniversary of the Easter Sunday attack.
The Police Headquarters has issued a special notice instructing the police to provide maximum security for islandwide churches conducting special services and other religious ceremonies on the 21st to commemorate the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks on 21 April 2019.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the notice has been issued to Senior DIGs, DIGs, Divisional Superintendents of Police, SPs and OICs.
Accordingly, the Police Headquarters has instructed all Divisional Superintendents and OICs to meet with the priests, clergy and religious leaders of the churches where the commemorations are being held and to make the necessary arrangements to provide maximum security as needed regarding the church programs.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the security provided by the OICs should be under the direct supervision of senior officers.
