Sri Lanka reports five COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, toll rises to 625

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka confirmed five deaths on Tuesday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 625, according to health authorities.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 625 by now.

01. The deceased is an 85 year old female resident in Mattakkuliya. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Colombo National Hospital and transferred to Mulleriyawa Base Hospital where she died on April 16. The cause of death is mentioned as heart failure with COVID-19 infection and sepsis.

02. The deceased is a 67 year old female resident in Panadura. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at a private hospital in Colombo and transferred to Mulleriyawa Base Hospital where he died on April 17. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, acute kidney damage, respiratory distress, diabetes and high blood pressure.

03. The deceased is a 66 year old male resident in Ratnapura. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments at Ratnapura Teaching Hospital and transferred to Homagama Base Hospital where he died on April 19. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, diabetes, and Dyslipidemia.

04. The deceased is a 59 year old male resident of Jaffna. He has died on April 19 while undergoing treatments at Jaffna Teaching Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as secondary bacterial infection complicated by COVID-19 pneumonia and multi-organ failure.

05. The deceased is a 90 year old female resident in Horana. She has died at her residence on April 17. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID-19 infection.
