Buddhist Monks Visit to Pakistan April 19-26

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – In line with H.E. Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran khan’s vision to develop Buddhist religious tourism, a high-level delegation comprising of Senior Buddhist Monks from Sri Lanka is visiting Pakistan from 19-26th April 2021.

Besides meeting the Honourable President and the Prime Minister, the delegation will be visiting the glorious heritage sites of Gandhara Civilization in Taxila, Swat and Takht-i-Bahi in Mardan and will also be experiencing various historical and archeological marvels in Lahore and Islamabad.

Following the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, the high-level Buddhist Monks’ visit has been arranged by High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo to promote religious tourism to Pakistan and to enhance people-to-people contact between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

While deeply appreciating the keen interest shown by the Senior Monks to undertake the visit, His Excellency Major General (R) Muhammad SaadKhattak, High Commissioner of Pakistan, personally saw the delegation off at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo on 19th April, 2021.
