‘Jumbo Cylinders’ ordered to prevent oxygen shortage received

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The first consignment of ‘Jumbo Cylinders’ of oxygen ordered for the use of COVID patients in the country to avert an oxygen shortage was received today (14), State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said.

Each large cylinder can store 5,640 liters of oxygen.

Meanwhile, the construction work of the Ceylon Oxygen Limited’s oxygen filling plant that can fill 13,000 cylinders daily in Kerawalapitiya is nearing completion, State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said.

In addition, measures have been taken to install oxygen plants in 25 selected hospitals and to set up large tanks to store liquid oxygen in 20 hospitals. Also arrangements have been made to select one hospital in each district and install 50 Wall Oxygen devices in each hospital, State Minister said.
