Sri Lanka suspends all commercial passenger arrivals for 10 days

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – All passenger arrivals into Sri Lanka will be suspended ten days from midnight May 21 in view of the prevailing Covid-19 situation, Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) announced.

Restriction is imposed on inbound commercial passenger flights.

Accordingly, All International Airports in Sri Lanka will not disembark passengers into Sri Lanka with effect from 2359hrs on 21st May 2021 (local time Sri Lanka) until 2359hrs on 31st May 2021 (local time Sri Lanka) in view of controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the above-mentioned restricted period, aircraft departures with passengers originating from BIA/MRIA and passengers transiting at BIA/MRIA for less than 12 hours with a confirmed ticket destined to an onward destination, will be permitted.

However, during the restricted period the following will be permitted:
• Aircraft Emergency Diversions to BIA/MRIA
• Freighter Operations and humanitarian flights to BIA/MRIA
• Technical landings at BIA/MRIA
• Inbound ferry flights (without passengers) at BIA/MRIA.
