President’s annual expenditure reduced by Rs 10.77 billion

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Presidential Expenditure Head for 2022 has been reduced by Rs. 10.77 billion compared to the year 2019 when President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa came to power, according to a report in state newspaper Dinamina.

Before Mr. Rajapaksa came to power in 2019 the Presidential Expenditure Head was Rs. 13.55billion and according to the Budget Appropriation Bill for 2022 the Presidential Expenditure Head is Rs.2.78 billion

In the first budget presented by Mr. Rajapaksa after assuming the presidency, in 2021, the Presidential Expenditure Head, which was Rs. 13.55 billion in 2019, was reduced by Rs. Rs. 4.21 billion to Rs. 9.34 billion

The President has taken steps to reduce the Presidential Expenditure Head from Rs. 9.34 billion in 2021 to Rs. 2.78 billion in 2022.

Accordingly, the Presidential Expenditure Head has been reduced by Rs. 6.56 billion in 2022.

According to the Budget Appropriation Bill, the total expenditure of the government next year has been reduced by Rs. 30 billion.

The Appropriation Bill for the year 2022 is due to be presented to Parliament this week.
