Environmental project to collect garbage from trees left by floods

(LANKAPUVATH | CAMBODIA) – Mr. Sear Sophal, Co-founder and Director at BambooShoot Foundation, began a project to collect garbage from trees with the help of monks, students, and fishermen, after witnessing the pollution created by rubbish during flood season, in Siem Reap, to restore the trees’ beauty as a tourist attraction.

To encourage people, Mr. Sear Sophal also donated rice to persons who collect rubbish and properly bundle it.

This project has improved the state of the flooded areas, following locals’ interest in collecting waste.

It has also helped to restore the environment for fish breeding in Tonle Sap Lake and will serve as a tourist destination for the region.
