Tourism Minister requests to give priority to tourism sector when distributing fuel and gas

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga has requested the ministers in charge of the subjects to take necessary steps to give priority to those engaged in the tourism sector in obtaining fuel and LP gas.

The Minister further requested that the fuel and gas distribution centers be informed about this.

He said that nearly 235,000 tourists have arrived in the country so far this year and it is expected that nearly 50,000 tourists are still in the country.

He also pointed out that it is a national interest to provide assistance to take the tourism industry that earns foreign exchange for the country forward.

In view of this situation, the Minister has requested that opportunities be provided through the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the LP Gas Companies to give priority in the supply of fuel and gas to tourism service providers and individuals registered with the Tourism Development Authority.
